Due to the ongoing dispute in Bangladesh, Indian Railways has cancelled trains between India and Bangladesh on Monday. More than 106 people have lost their lives in the last two days. Indian Railway officials said that Kolkata-Dhaka Maitree Express and Bandhan Express between Kolkata and Khulna have been cancelled. Apart from this, the cancellation of other trains will continue till tomorrow i.e. 6th August. - 13107/13108 (Kolkata-Dhaka-Koa, Maitree Express) Owned by Railway-Bangladesh, Cancelled from 19.07.2024 to 06.08.2024
- 13129/13130 Kolkata-Khulna-Kolkata, Bandhan Express) Owned by Railway-ER, Cancelled from 19.07.2024 to 06.08.2024
- 13131/13132 (Dhaka-New Jalpaiguri-Dhaka, Mithali Express) Owned by Railway-NFR, cancelled from 21.07.2024.
The situation in Bangladesh has worsened and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned from her post. Amidst the violence, the protesters also entered the Prime Minister’s residence and vandalized and looted it. The protesters even looted Sheikh Hasina’s sari from her room. Seeing the protests and for security reasons, Hasina has left Bangladesh.
‘The country will be run by an interim government’
After Sheikh Hasina’s resignation, Bangladesh’s army chief announced that an interim government will be formed in the country. He said that the interim government will run the country for now. Bangladesh’s army chief said in a press conference, ‘Representatives of the main political parties were present in the discussion with the army. Students are requested to remain calm and go back home. There is no need for curfew or any emergency in the country, we will find a solution to the crisis by tonight. PM Sheikh Hasina has resigned. The interim government will run the country.’
