New Delhi: Cases of fake bomb threats are continuously coming to light in the country. Every day there is a bomb threat during some air travel, due to which the passengers have to face problems. The figures disclosed by the government in Parliament are extremely shocking. The government has said that more than 1100 fake bomb threats have been received in the last two years.
What is the whole matter?
While giving information in the Lok Sabha on November 28, the Civil Aviation Minister of the Government of India said that a total of 1148 fake bomb threats have been received from August 2022 to November 14, 2024. These threats have been given through calls and messages.
In the year 2024 alone, 999 bomb threats have been received within 11 months. Due to these threats, there is difficulty in flying and passengers are also facing difficulty in reaching their destination because once the threat comes, there is a complete investigation, due to which the flight gets delayed.
What action was taken?
The government also told what action was taken regarding these fake bomb threats? There have been 256 FIRs and 12 arrests in such cases since January 2024. 163 FIRs have been registered between October 14 and November 14, 2024, which is an increase of sorts.
Government is considering changes in the law
According to the information received, the government is of the opinion that the laws related to this matter should be changed. In such a situation, it is believed that the Government may make changes in the Government Aircraft (Safety) Rules, 2023. It is being said that those making fake bomb threats may be included in the no-fly list.
Apart from this, the government is constantly reviewing and strengthening security related measures.
