Jamaica’s Shelly-Fraser is a five-time world and two-time Olympic champion.
Jamaica’s star sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce withdrew just before the start of the women’s 100m semi-final race. However, the reason for her withdrawal is not yet clear.
Some reports are claiming that 5-time world and 2-time Olympic champion Fraser Price was prevented from entering the training area because she did not reach the stadium with the team bus.
The players of the Jamaican team also confirmed this on social media, although the legendary athlete has not said anything about this. 37-year-old Fraser-Pryce qualified from the heat on Saturday, but she withdrew her name before the final. She is playing her last Olympic Games. Fraser-Pryce will now participate in the women’s 4×100 meter team event.
Fraser-Pryce won gold at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, bronze in 2016 and silver in 2021. The IOC has not yet made any statement on the decision taken by them.

Since my Olympic debut in 2008, you all (fans) have been with me every step of the way and every victory. You all have been there with me. My faith has always strengthened my journey. Thank you for being with me today and every day.”

Second Jamaican player to withdraw from Paris Olympics
Before Fraser-Price at the Paris Olympics, Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson had also withdrawn from the 100m event of the Olympics 100 days ago. Shericka Jackson will now participate in the women’s 200m event. With Jackson and Price out and Great Britain sprinter Dina Asher-Smith being eliminated in the semi-finals, the way has opened up for American star sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson to win a gold medal in her debut Olympics.
Before Fraser-Pryce, Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson had also withdrawn from the 100m event.
Richardson of America won the World Championship held last year. Richardson reached the final by winning the heat race held on Saturday night. However, Julian Alfred of St. Lucia defeated her in the semi-finals and Richardson of America finished second in Semi-Final-2.
Julian Alfred wins Gold Saint
Lucia’s sprinter Julian Alfred performed brilliantly in the women’s 100 meter final late Saturday night. She won the gold in 10.72 seconds. From the beginning to the end of the race, Julian and Richardson were running almost equally. But at the last moment Julian went ahead. USA’s Richardson completed the race in 10.87 seconds, here she won the silver medal. Melissa Jefferson of USA completed the race in 10.92 seconds and won the bronze medal.
