The first match of the ODI series between India and Sri Lanka was tied. Now the remaining two matches are necessary for the result of the ODI series. The second ODI will be played in Colombo on August 4. India had won the T20 series 3-0.
In a thrilling match on Friday, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat. The team scored 230 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. India could only score 230 runs in 47.5 overs. The team needed 1 run in 15 balls, India had 2 wickets left. Here Sri Lankan captain Charith Aslanka took 2 wickets in a row and bundled out India for 230 runs.
Many moments and records were seen in this match. Siraj dropped the catch of Pathum Nissanka. Shivam Dubey took the first wicket of his ODI career. After Janith Liyanage was dismissed, the umpire declared him out. Rohit became the batsman to hit the most sixes as a captain.

1. Siraj dropped the catch
Pathum Nissanka scored 56 runs off 75 balls.
In the 8th over, Siraj gave a new lease of life to Nisanka. Here Pathum Nisanka flicked an overpitched ball from Arshdeep Singh on the leg stump. The ball went towards fine leg where Siraj, standing there, dived forward and tried to catch the ball but could not. At this time Nisanka was batting on 20 runs.
2. Dubey took the first wicket of his ODI career
Shivam Dubey took 1 wicket for 19 runs in 4 overs.
Indian all-rounder Shivam Dubey took the first wicket of his career by dismissing Kusal Mendis. Kusal tried to defend the first ball of the 13th over. The ball moved slightly outside. Here Kusal was out LBW. He played an innings of 14 runs.
3. Indian players entered the field wearing black bands
After the demise of former Indian cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad, today all the Indian players came out wearing black bands.
Former Indian cricketer and Team India’s head coach Anshuman Gaekwad passed away late Wednesday night at the age of 71. He was suffering from blood cancer for a long time. Due to which all the Indian players came to play the match today wearing black bands.
4. The umpire gave the decision very late
Akshar dismissed Janith Liyanage for 20 runs.
Akshar was bowling in the 35th over of the Sri Lankan innings. On the second ball of the over, Janith Liyanage moved forward and tried to play a big shot. Here the ball came very close to the bat. The Indian fielders appealed and Liyanage started returning to the pavilion without the umpire’s decision. Finally the umpire gave him out.
5. Rohit dropped the catch
Hasaranga played an innings of 24 runs.
Captain Rohit Sharma standing in slip dropped the catch on Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling in the 38th over. Here Hasranga cut the short of good length ball. The ball went to slip with speed. But Rohit Sharma could not catch the ball.
6. Aslanka tied the match by taking 2 wickets
India needed 5 runs from 18 balls. Shivam Dubey and Mohammad Siraj were at the crease. Dubey hit a four on the third ball after playing 2 dot balls. Team India needed only one run, here Charith Aslanka got Dubey LBW. India needed one run from 14 balls. Here Aslanka also got Arshdeep Singh LBW and India was all out.
