Hockey India secretary general Bhola Nath Singh said that from now on, no senior team player will be given jersey number 16, although it will continue at the junior level.
Sreejesh played 336 matches for India
Sreejesh, who has played several Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and World Cups, has played 336 matches for India and this was his fourth Olympics. Earlier, Sreejesh played an important role in India’s bronze medal with his brilliant goalkeeping in the Tokyo Olympic Games played in 2021. India then ended the 41-year medal drought in this sport. Sreejesh made his debut in the 2012 Olympics.
