The whole world is currently going through a lot of turmoil. On one hand, the war between Russia and Ukraine is going on, while on the other hand, violence has been continuing in Bangladesh since the coup of Sheikh Hasina’s government. Amidst this environment, on Monday, US President Joe Biden called Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and talked about global issues. There was a discussion between PM Modi and Joe Biden about the situation in Ukraine and Bangladesh.
PM Modi raised the issue of Bangladeshi Hindus
In his conversation with Joe Biden, PM Modi has raised the issue of violence against Bangladeshi Hindus. PM Modi has informed on social media that he spoke to Joe Biden on phone on Monday. The two leaders shared views on various regional and global issues, including the situation in Ukraine. PM Modi reiterated India’s full support for the early return of peace and stability. PM Modi informed that he also discussed the situation in Bangladesh with Joe Biden and emphasized the need for early restoration of normalcy and ensuring the safety of minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh.
India-US partnership discussed
PM appreciated President Biden’s commitment to India-US partnership. Both leaders noted that India-US partnership aims to benefit the people of both countries as well as all of humanity. PM Modi briefed President Joe Biden on his recent visit to Ukraine. He reiterated India’s consistent position in favour of dialogue and diplomacy. Both leaders reiterated commitment to further strengthen multilateral cooperation, including the Quad.
