Bhadrapada begins…what to do and what not to do
Bhadrapad month has started. According to the Hindu calendar, this is the sixth month of the year and the second month of Chaturmas. It is also called Bhado. Let us know the rules and precautions of Bhadrapad month. What to do and what not to do in this month.
Special festivals: In this month, Haritalika Teej, Krishna Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Rishi Panchami, Radha Ashtami and Anant Chaturdashi are celebrated. After this, the 15-day long Pitrupaksha begins.
What not to do:
1. In Bhadrapada, one should not eat any type of tamasic food including garlic, onion, honey, jaggery, curd-rice, radish, brinjal, raw things, meat and fish. One should avoid eating oily and excessively spicy food.
2. For the purification and purity of the body, one should eat only one meal a day.
3. In this month, one should give up all kinds of comforts and luxuries and should also stop sleeping on the bed. One should sleep on a mat laid on the ground.
4. Speaking lies, speaking harsh words, betrayal, causing jealousy, getting angry – all these should be abandoned.
5. One should not do any auspicious work.
6. Coconut oil should not be used this month. It reduces the happiness of children.
7. Avoid consuming intoxicants like tobacco, gutkha, cigarette and alcohol etc. in the month of Bhadrapada.
8. Physical relations should be avoided at this time.
What to do :
1. In this Maha, one should meditate on Lord Vishnu, Shri Krishna, Ganeshji, Mata Parvati and Shivaji. By doing this, all your wishes are fulfilled.
2. One should take bath in holy river in the month of Bhadon. One should take bath in cold water in this month to get rid of laziness.
3. One should donate to the poor as per one’s capacity.
4. Offering Tulsi leaves to Shri Krishna and drinking it after boiling it in milk is considered beneficial.
5. Eating butter in this month increases life span.
6. To gain physical strength, use Panchagavya i.e. milk, curd, ghee, cow urine and cow dung in the month of Bhadra.
