Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets in the first Test.
After the Rawalpindi Test, Pakistan and Bangladesh suffered losses in the World Test Championship points table. Both were fined due to slow over rate. Home team Pakistan was deducted 6 points, while Bangladesh was deducted 3 points.
After the penalty, Bangladesh moved from sixth to seventh position. The team was ahead of South Africa, but now it has fallen behind them. Pakistan remains at eighth position, although it has lost more points. Bangladesh had defeated Pakistan in the test by 10 wickets in Rawalpindi.
30% fine was also imposed on Pakistan
ICC said, ‘In the Rawalpindi Test, the Pakistan team could not bowl 6 overs within the stipulated time, due to which 6 points were deducted from them. Bangladesh, which defeated Pakistan in a Test for the first time in history, did not bowl 3 overs on time. Due to which 3 points were deducted from them. Pakistan was also fined 30% of its match fee, while 15% of Bangladesh’s match fee was deducted.’
The Pakistan team could not win the test despite declaring the first innings.
Pakistan has only 16 points left
After the penalty, Pakistan was left with only 16 points, due to which their points percentage remained only 22.22%. On the other hand, Bangladesh, which reached the sixth position after winning the first test, was left with only 21 points. Due to which the team reached the 7th position with 35% points. Earlier they had 40% points.
Shakib was fined 10%
ICC has also imposed a fine on Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. During the match, he threw the ball towards Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan in the 33rd over. Rizwan was not injured, but the umpire warned him not to do so after throwing the ball. ICC said, ‘Shakib has been fined 10% of his match fee. Shakib also lost one demerit point for violating Level-1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.’
Shakib Al Hasan took 3 wickets in the second innings.
Bangladesh won the first test by 10 wickets
Bangladesh won the first Test played in Rawalpindi on 21 August by 10 wickets. Pakistan had declared the first innings at a score of 448/6. Bangladesh scored 565 runs in the first innings and took a lead of 117 runs.
Pakistan could only score 146 runs in the second innings. Bangladesh got a target of only 30 runs, which the team achieved in just 6 overs. Mushfiqur Rahim became the player of the match, he played an innings of 191 runs. The second test will be played in Rawalpindi from August 30.
