NEW DELHI: Young Nitish Kumar Reddy on Saturday pulled off a herculean effort, notching up his maiden Test ton against Australia in the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy game at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Late on the second day, Reddy stuck on 99 not out, brought up his ton in a dramatic fashion, becoming the third youngest ever to score a maiden Test century for India in Australia.
As Reddy got the three-figure mark, the ‘G was on its feet, saluting the terrific effort from the 21-year-old.
Social media too went bonkers over the monumental effort from the youngster, with wishes pouring in from all quarters. Be it the greats of the game to a common fan, everyone doffed their hats to the incredible effort from Reddy.

Stuck on 99 not out after India lost two wickets and had the last man in form of Mohammed Siraj, Reddy brought up his ton in the 115th over of the innings, hitting Scott Boland for a boundary down the ground.
He finished the day on an unbeaten on 105 runs off 176 balls (ten fours and one six) before bad light forced early stumps.
Riding on Reddy’s ton, India were 358 for 9 in reply to Australia’s 474 in the first innings at the close of play on Day 3.
India still trails Australia by 116 runs.
