New flexible solar panel can be coated on phone cover and generate electricity

There is a huge possibility of development in the solar energy sector. It is believed that the more advanced and easy to use solar panels are, the easier it will be to produce electricity in the world and this will also be a big effort towards clean energy. Is that time coming soon? According to a report, researchers have developed the world’s first flexible ‘solar panel’. It is claimed that it is so thin that it can be applied on any object as a coating and that object will work as a portable energy source.

Live Science’s Report According to, scientists have created solar cells that are 150 times thinner than silicon-based panels. Despite being so thin, they can produce a lot of energy. Scientists say that these panels can be printed on any object like a car or a smartphone case. If this happens, your device will turn into a solar energy generating device.

The material the researchers have developed is just one micron (0.001 mm) thin. Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) has certified this invention. The study has not been published yet.

Researchers at Oxford University have made this invention. According to the report, they created a new photovoltaic material from perovskite structures. This material converts sunlight into energy.

Panels will be made in labs and factories

The material created by the scientists is a synthetic version of calcium titanium oxide. It is claimed that it can be made in labs or factories at a low cost. If this happens, the new solar panel can be made in large quantities.

Researchers say that with this invention, we can imagine applying perovskite coatings on many types of surfaces to generate cheap solar energy. It will be applied to our cars, building roofs and even the back of mobile phones.
