One such person who moves forward with her courage and determination is Neha Sharma. 40-year-old Neha became a victim of an autoimmune disease like multiple sclerosis (MS) in the year 2016. Neha was so engrossed in the complexities of life that she was not able to pay attention to her physical problem. Initially she had to face the problem of dizziness and dizziness, which she ignored considering it to be a symptom of minor weakness or heat. But then her hands and feet started getting numb and she started facing the problem of double vision. Neha became very worried about the problem increasing day by day in her body. She consulted many physicians and ENT specialists, but her physical problem remained as it was. She was not getting any satisfactory answer from anywhere.

What is multiple sclerosis?

This is an auto immune disease that affects the central nervous system. The immune system of people suffering from this disease attacks myelin, which forms a protective layer around nerve fibers.

Multiple sclerosis affects the brain and spinal cord. People suffering from it face constant fatigue, difficulty in walking and difficulty in speaking. According to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience, younger women are more likely to suffer from brain-related multiple sclerosis disease.

One day, as soon as she woke up in the morning, she suddenly started feeling dizzy and heaviness in her head. When the pain did not subside by the evening, she got herself examined by a doctor. But he gave her medicine for weakness. Now this problem was increasing continuously. She could not get the support of her in-laws for the treatment of this disease. In such a situation, Neha returned to her parents and started the treatment afresh. Due to this, she was mainly facing dizziness and lack of concentration. Neha started getting very worried about this problem.

Difficulties faced in the beginning

After all this, Neha decided to meet a neurologist. Her search led her to Dr Praveen Gupta, Chief of Neurology and Principal Director, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram. After coming in contact with Dr Gupta, Neha now seemed a little relieved. But there she was advised to get several tests done including MRI and some other scans.

Seeing his condition, he was admitted to the hospital for about a week and after this he was diagnosed. Dr. Gupta conducted all his tests and also gave him information about the disease. He not only explained the complications of MS in detail to the patient but also told him the ways to deal with it.

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease. Neha, who suffers from this disease, was initially admitted to the hospital twice a year. But after coming in contact with Dr. Gupta, her condition started improving day by day. Due to this, she does not need to be admitted to the hospital every year. Due to this, Neha has been admitted to the hospital only once in the last four years.

The change in her health inspired Neha to move forward with courage again. The improvement in Neha’s health showed her a new direction in life. Gradually, her health started improving. Neha was now feeling normal about her health. During this life long disease, it is necessary to regulate the medicine from time to time to keep the disease under control.
