Why does this disease called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis occur? (Causes of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis)

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is a lung disease in which the lung tissue becomes thick and hard. Due to this reason there is difficulty in breathing. Generally, doctors or researchers are not sure about the reasons why this happens, that is why it is called ‘idiopathic’.

Generally, this disease occurs when our lungs become victims of infection due to pollution or other reasons. Sometimes smoking also becomes its cause and sometimes this disease is also genetic.

This disease is very common in people of 50 to 70 years of age (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis age factor) because by this age the lungs of humans become relatively weak. Apart from this, sometimes the side effects of chemotherapy or medicines of certain therapies are also responsible for this disease because they directly affect the lungs.

What is the treatment of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF)?

According to Dr. Vivek Chandra Srivastava, it depends on the level of the disease whether it can be treated or not, and what are the options available to the doctors. As-

1.Oxygen Support

When the lungs are not able to provide enough oxygen because they are too damaged, then we keep the patient on oxygen support so that the oxygen requirement of the body can be met.

2. Exercise and Yoga

If we detect this disease in the early days, then along with some medicines, we recommend exercise and yoga to the patients so that there is a change in the breathing process and the lungs improve. In the initial phase, exercise and yoga are very effective in curing this disease.

3.Lungs Transplant

In very serious cases when lungs If they are not working at all, then doctors are left with no option except lung transplant. However, this is a process that is dependent on availability.
