New Delhi: On Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat being disqualified from the Paris Olympics, Wrestling Federation of India Vice President and BJP MP Karan Bhushan Singh said that it is a loss for the country. The federation will consider it and see what can be done. He indicated that the federation may appeal against its disqualification.

Karan Bhushan is the son of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh

Let us tell you that Karan Bhushan Singh is the son of former Indian Olympic Association president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Some female wrestlers including Vinesh had accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual exploitation. Vinesh had also staged a protest against Brij Bhushan in Delhi. Due to the controversies, BJP cut Brij Bhushan’s ticket in this year’s Lok Sabha elections and fielded his son Karan Bhushan Singh. He also won the election.

Deepender Singh Hooda said this

On Vinesh Phogat being disqualified, Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda said that we were waiting for her to win the gold medal. The whole country is shocked by this news. Vinesh was, is and will remain a champion in the eyes of the country. She worked hard and reached the finals. Her weight was correct in all three matches yesterday, so her name should be considered for at least the silver medal. The Indian Olympic Association should put this matter before the Olympic Association.

PM Modi also encouraged

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged Vinesh and said that she is the pride of India and she has to come back strongly. He wrote on the post, Vinesh, you are a champion among champions. You are the pride of India and an inspiration for every Indian. He further wrote, “Today’s setback has saddened me. I wish I could tell in words how sad I am at this moment. But I know that you will come back again. It is in your nature to face challenges boldly.

Let us tell you that Vinesh was disqualified from the Olympics on Wednesday for being overweight before the final of the women’s 50 kg wrestling event. Vinesh had created history by becoming the first Indian female wrestler to reach the Olympic final. She was to play the gold medal match late tonight.
