ACP Swatantra Kumar Singh said, “We have received information about gathering of people on the highway and we have deployed security personnel to prevent any untoward incident.”

A senior police officer said that due to the prohibition in Sambhal, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has been stopped at ‘UP Gate’ in Ghaziabad while going to the district. In Sambhal, restrictions under section 163 (power to issue orders in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehensive danger) of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) have been extended till December 31. Earlier this ban was to end on Sunday.

4 killed in Sambhal violence

Let us tell you that a court in Sambhal had ordered the survey of a Mughal era mosque on November 19 and a team conducted the survey there on the same day. Since then there is a situation of tension there. It was claimed that earlier there was a Harihar temple at the site of the mosque. Violence broke out again on November 24 when protesters gathered near the royal Jama Masjid and clashed with security personnel during the survey. Four people died in this violence while many others were injured.
