Forest officials have arrested a poacher in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district. Skulls of a leopard and a deer have been recovered from him. Samrat Gowda, Deputy Director of Simlipal Tiger Reserve (STR), has given this information.
Raid on hunter’s house
STR Deputy Director Samrat Gowda said that based on a tip-off, a team of forest officials raided Lanka Badra’s house in Makabari village on Sunday. A leopard skull was recovered from there. Gowda said that Badra was arrested and questioned.

During interrogation, he revealed the detailed procedure adopted for hunting wild animals. After this, a dramatisation of the crime scene was done in the forest. According to the official, the investigating officer has seized some bones from the spot, which are suspected to be of wild animals.
A cache of weapons including a deer’s skull was found
The weapons used in the crime have also been recovered from the accused’s house in Makabari. During the second search, dried meat, three nooses, a deer skull with horns, an axe, noose, poison and two bags were seized from Badra’s house. The STR deputy director said that a case has been registered and investigation is being carried out in this entire matter.
