Yadgir: A major controversy has erupted after the mysterious death of a young police sub-inspector in Karnataka’s Yadgir district. An MLA of the ruling Congress in the state seems to be caught in the controversy. Shweta, wife of the deceased PSI Parashuram, has made serious allegations against Congress MLA Chennareddy Patil Tunnoor and his son of mentally harassing her husband. Shweta accused the Congress MLA and his son of demanding Rs 30 lakh to stop her husband’s transfer.

Home Minister ordered an inquiry

According to reports, 34-year-old sub-inspector Parashuram died of a heart attack on Friday. After Parashuram’s death, his wife Shweta lodged a complaint at the Yadgir Town Police Station and along with Dalit organizations, staged a protest demanding an inquiry into her husband’s death. It is being said that the Yadgir police have registered an FIR under sections 352, 108, 3(5) of the BNSS and sections 3(2), 3(1) of the SC and ST. Seeing the massive protest, the Karnataka government has also come into action and Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwar has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

‘I am 8 months pregnant’

After her husband’s death, Shweta said, ‘What should I say? Our husband’s colleagues are supporting us. Our husband had told us that the MLA had demanded money. This should be investigated. Although we are protesting here and demanding the MLA’s presence here, he has not come. Why? He demanded money and my husband was targeted because of caste. The SP called us. I am 8 months pregnant. I want to say again that this should not have happened to an honest officer.’ (Input: IANS)
