Chennai: The impact of Cyclone Fangal is being seen in many states of South India. Due to Fengal, it is raining with strong winds. Meanwhile, a video is becoming increasingly viral on social media. It is being told that amidst strong winds and heavy rain, an Indigo flight was trying to land at Chennai airport on Saturday. In the video going viral, it can be seen that as soon as the flight is about to land, it gets disbalanced due to strong wind. After this, suddenly due to the wisdom of the pilot, the plane is flown back.

Indigo Airlines has also given information about this incident. A statement issued by IndiGo said that the Mumbai-Chennai flight had to be “go-arounded” due to adverse weather conditions. “Due to adverse weather conditions including rain and strong winds, the aircraft of flight 6E 683, operating between Mumbai and Chennai, had to be turned back by the cockpit crew in accordance with safety protocols,” the statement said. The airlines said that “such procedures are as per standard protocol and the pilots are given proper training to handle such situations professionally.” IndiGo said, “This is a standard and safe maneuver and our pilots are extensively trained to handle such situations with utmost professionalism. When a safe landing cannot be achieved, a go-around is undertaken, As was the case with this flight.”

Let us tell you that the plane was landed safely in Chennai at 12:40 pm on Saturday. Earlier, operations at the Chennai airport were suspended on Saturday due to strong winds and heavy rains due to cyclone ‘Fangal’, resulting in cancellation of several flights and affecting hundreds of passengers. Due to heavy rains, some parts of the airport were submerged. In a post on Twitter at 6.06 pm, IndiGo said the weather in Chennai has not improved and flights to and from the city remain affected. “We are continuing to monitor the situation and are working to keep you informed,” it said.
