After fierce protests and violence in Bangladesh, the country’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned. According to information, Sheikh Hasina has also left Bangladesh. Meanwhile, protests are continuing on a large scale and violence is also taking place there. So far, more than 300 people have been reported dead in this violence. Amidst this crisis, the Indian government has also become active to deal with any untoward incident on the border. The Border Security Force i.e. BSF has also been put on high alert.

Series of meetings continues in India

The Indian government is constantly monitoring the ongoing political crisis, protests and violence in Bangladesh. According to information, India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is keeping an eye on the situation and taking all updates. A series of meetings are going on in the Indian government regarding the situation in Bangladesh.

BSF issued high alert

In view of the heavy political violence and poor law and order situation in Bangladesh, the Border Security Force (BSF) has issued a high alert in the India-Bangladesh border areas. A senior BSF officer has informed that the BSF’s DG (Director General) has also reached Kolkata. According to the information, the BSF has instructed all its ‘field commanders’ to immediately deploy all personnel on duty at the border.

4,096 kilometer long border

India-Bangladesh share a total border of 4,096 km. West Bengal shares a total border of 2,217 km with Bangladesh, apart from Tripura (856 km), Meghalaya (443 km), Assam (262 km) and Mizoram (318 km). According to media reports, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country on Monday amid massive protests against her government.
