Chennai will bid on Ashwin According to TOI report, Chennai’s wishlist includes Rishabh Pant and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. 38-year-old Ashwin played IPL for 6 years for the franchise. He made his debut for CSK in 2009. After which he has played for Rising Pune Supergiants, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. About two months ago, Ashwin had expressed his desire to play for Chennai again.

Battle for Pant in Chennai and Punjab

Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has not been retained by Delhi Capitals. In such a situation, many teams can go after Pant. Because Chennai has Rs 55 crore left and they have to include more players in the team, in such a situation they cannot bid above Rs 25 crore. Apart from this, Punjab, Lucknow and Bengaluru can include Rishabh in their team.

Rishabh Pant captained Delhi Capitals from 2021-2024.

Right-to-match card for Devon Conway

Chennai can use the right-to-match card for the Kiwi opener. In 2023, Conway scored 672 runs in 16 matches for Chennai at an average of 52.

What is Right to Match Card?

Right to Match i.e. RTM card can be used by teams in the auction. For example, let’s say Rohit Sharma was not retained by Mumbai Indians. His name came up in the auction and he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 10 crore. Now if Mumbai wants, it can keep Rohit with it for Rs 10 crore by using RTM card. RTM card will be with all the teams.
