Washington: After Taiwan, America has made a big announcement regarding Tibet. China’s panic will increase just by hearing about this. Actually A top US government official has made this important announcement regarding the rights of Tibet after meeting the Dalai Lama. The US official has reiterated the US’ commitment to protecting the human rights of Tibetans and efforts to preserve their unique historical, linguistic, cultural and religious heritage on behalf of President Joe Biden. Obviously, America’s commitment is also towards Taiwan. In such a situation, China will definitely be irritated by this new announcement of America.
The Dalai Lama is currently recovering in New York after undergoing successful knee replacement surgery on June 28. The Tibetan spiritual leader’s meeting with a top US State Department official comes months after President Biden signed a law that seeks to enhance US support for Tibet and promote dialogue between China and the Dalai Lama to peacefully resolve the dispute over the status and governance of the remote Himalayan region.
China is against the ‘Resolve Tibet Act’
China opposed the ‘Resolve Tibet Act’ passed by the US House of Representatives in February and by the Senate in May and called it “destabilizing”. The US State Department said in a release that President Biden’s message to the Dalai Lama was delivered by Uzra Zeya, US Deputy Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy and Human Rights Affairs and Special Coordinator for Tibet Affairs. It said, “During the meeting, Zeya conveyed President Biden’s best wishes to the Dalai Lama for his good health and reaffirmed the US commitment to efforts to protect the human rights of Tibetans and preserve their unique historical, linguistic, cultural and religious heritage.
