Series against New Zealand next month
The team selected for the T20 World Cup will play the three-match T20 International series against New Zealand next month. All-rounder Heather Graham will not travel to UAE with the team.

After announcing the squad, Australia Women’s Cricket Head of Performance and National Selector Shawn Fleger said, “This is the first time in a long time that all our centrally contracted players were available for selection ahead of the World Cup and that has allowed us to build a stable and balanced squad.”

He said about all-rounder Phoebe Litchfield, “Phoebe is the X-factor for us and this will be her first World Cup. The fast bowling pair of Tayla Vlaeminck and Darcie Brown is one we have been wanting to try for a while.”

World Cup shifted from Bangladesh to UAE
A few days ago, the Women’s T20 World Cup was shifted from Bangladesh due to political instability in Bangladesh. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced this 6 days ago, although Bangladesh still has the hosting rights.

The matches of this tournament, which is going to start on October 3, will be played at Dubai International and Sharjah grounds in UAE. Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe Cricket Boards had also shown interest in hosting the tournament in their country, but the council decided to host the matches in UAE.

BCCI had rejected ICC’s proposal
The ICC had proposed to BCCI to host the tournament, but the Indian board rejected the ICC’s proposal saying that we do not want to indicate that we want to host the World Cup in our own home continuously. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had said that India is going to host the Women’s ODI World Cup next year in 2025.
