On Sunday night, South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy ground. West Indies batted first and scored 179 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, South Africa was all out for 149 runs in 19.4 overs. Romario Shepherd was the player of the match. He took 3 wickets for 15 runs. Shamar Joseph also got 3 wickets.

Top-3 took West Indies past 80
In the match, the top order gave a strong start to West Indies. Openers Shai Hope and Alick Athanaz laid the foundation of the score by sharing 41 runs for the first wicket. Here, after Athanaz was out for 28 runs, Hope added 42 runs for the second wicket with Nicholas Pooran and the score crossed 80. Athanaz got caught by Donovan Ferreira while trying to pull the ball of Lizard Williams.

Captain Rovman Powell played an innings of 35 runs in 22 balls at a strike rate of 159.09. His innings included one four and three sixes. Powell along with Sherfane Rutherford made a partnership of 47 runs in 28 balls for the 5th wicket and took the team past 150. Rutherford scored 29 runs in 18 balls.

For South Africa, Lizard Williams took 3 wickets. Patrick Kruger got 2 wickets.

Captain Rovman Powell played an innings of 35 runs.

Rickelton and Hendricks off to a fast start
The pair of Ryan Rickelton and Reeza Hendricks gave South Africa a quick start while chasing a target of 180 runs. The team had reached the 50-run mark in the fourth over. But both the openers were out in the last two overs of the powerplay. Both of them made a partnership of 63 runs. Rickelton contributed 20 and Hendricks contributed 44 runs.

South Africa lost their fourth wicket at the score of 129 runs. Here Tristan Stubbs was out after scoring 28 runs. The team fell apart as soon as he was out.
