40 murder cases filed against former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, serious allegations leveled

Dhaka: At least five more murder cases have been registered against former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her former cabinet colleagues and top police officials. After these cases, the number of cases registered against (Hasina) has increased to 49. According to the report of the ‘Daily Star’ newspaper, three of the five cases were registered in Dhaka, while two cases were registered in Narsingdi and Bogura. The 49 cases registered against Sheikh Hasina include 40 of murder, seven of crimes against humanity and genocide, one of kidnapping and one of attack on the procession of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Cases registered like this

Hasina and 46 others were booked for the murder of a street vendor during a protest in Dhaka’s Ashulia on August 4. A resident of the northwest area filed another case against Hasina and 32 others in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mainul Islam over the death of a 12th grade student in the airport area on August 5. A resident of Mohammadpur filed a complaint in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury against Hasina and 67 others over the murder of a 23-year-old man in the city on July 19. A murder case has been filed against Hasina and 81 others over the killing of a businessman during an anti-discrimination student movement in Narsingdi on July 19.

Sheikh Hasina left the country

A case has been filed in Bogura against Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul and 76 others in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a BNP leader in 2018. Hasina resigned from her post amid anti-government protests and went to India on August 5. (Language)
