Jerusalem: The Israeli army has said that it has recovered the bodies of six people who were taken hostage during a Hamas attack on October 7 last year. The army said in a statement on Tuesday that its soldiers recovered these bodies during an operation in southern Gaza last night. According to the army, the deceased have been identified as Yagaev Bushtab, Alexander Dankig, Avraham Mander, Yoram Metsger, Nadav Poplev and Haim Peri.

When and how did he die?

However, the army did not say when and how they died. These bodies have been recovered at a time when the US, Egypt and Qatar are trying to reach a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. This agreement also includes the release of people held hostage by Hamas. It is believed that after the October 7 attack, about 110 people are still held hostage by Hamas. According to the estimate of Israeli officials, about one third of them have died.

More than 40,000 Palestinians were killed

Meanwhile, let us also tell you here that more than 40 thousand Palestinians have been killed so far in the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. The Health Ministry of Gaza, run by Hamas, has said that 92,401 people have been injured in the Israeli attack in the area and more than 85 percent of the population has been displaced from their homes. The Health Ministry does not distinguish between civilians and militant fighters in counting the number of dead. This announcement has been made during another attempt by international mediators to ceasefire in the war.

This is how the war started

The war began on October 7 last year when Hamas-led militants attacked southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people (most of them civilians) and taking about 250 hostages to Gaza. Israel says 111 hostages have not been released, including 39 who died. The hostages included 15 women and two children under the age of five. (AP)
