In summer, fried, contaminated and spicy food starts harming the gut health. Due to this, the body has to deal with diarrhea and vomiting. Due to changes in diet, digestion slows down, which leads to indigestion, bloating and then diarrhea. In such a situation, the appetite of the body also becomes low and weakness starts to be felt. In such a situation, healthy meals are necessary to restore digestion. Let’s know from the expert what the diet should be like to control the symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting and strengthen digestion (diet after diarrhea and nausea).

Why the problem of loose motion and vomiting increases (Reason of loose motion and vomiting)

Dr Aditi Sharma, Head of Nutrition and Dietetics at Manipal Hospital, Ghaziabad, explains that irritable bowel syndrome, food poisoning, malnutrition and stomach flu increase the risk of diarrhea. Loose motion causes deficiency of micronutrients in the body and increases electrolyte imbalance. It is necessary to keep the body hydrated to strengthen digestion. In such a situation, one should take a low fiber diet. Hence, avoid taking salad, peeled pulses and fruits in the diet.

What should be your diet after loose motion and vomiting (diet after diarrhea and nausea)

1. Avoid dehydration

To keep the body hydrated in summer (How to hydrate body), apart from water, drink coconut water, lentil water, rice water and buttermilk. This maintains electrolyte balance. Apart from this, the digestive system also gets strengthened. In such a situation, avoid fresh food juice. The amount of chemicals and fructose present in it can increase the problem of irritable bowel movement (Tips to deal with irritable bowel movement). Apart from this, the risk of increasing sugar level increases in those people who are suffering from diabetes.

2. Eat the fruit after peeling it

Eating fruits with skin causes problems in digestion. The amount of insoluble fiber present in the peels disturbs the stomach lining, which increases the problem of indigestion. Eating fruits after removing the peel boosts digestion and helps in digestion. For this, consume banana, pear and apple in the diet.

3. Replace milk with curd

The amount of probiotics (Benefits of probiotics) keeps the digestive system of the body balanced. To increase the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut, replace milk with curd in the diet. This can prevent acidity, bloating (Causes of bloating) and stomach pain. Consuming milk and cheese leads to lactose intolerance. During diarrhea, the small intestine is unable to absorb lactose, due to which bacteria start getting fermented and the risk of loose motion and vomiting increases.
