UK man gets life sentence for raping unconscious woman until she died

A man in the UK has been sentenced to life in prison after CCTV footage caught him raping and killing NHS worker Natalie Shotterwho was unconscious on a park bench in Southall Park, west London, following a night out.
The accused, Mohamed Noor lidow, repeatedly sexually assaulted the mother-of-three while she lay unconscious in the park. After a trial at the Old Bailey, he was found guilty of rape and manslaughter. Judge Richard Marks KC sentenced him to life in prison, with a minimum term of 10 years and eight months.
The judge condemned lidow’s exploitation of the victim Shotter in her vulnerable, unconscious state as “wicked and utterly reckless”. The judge noted that after his arrest, the defendant falsely claimed the encounter was “consensual”.
Prosecutor Alison Morgan KC revealed that 37-year-old Natalie Shotter died from a heart attack caused by Lidow assaulting her “again and again,” the Independent reported.
The court identified Iidow as a “dangerous offender” who, whilst under investigation for rape in 2022, had engaged in “explicit” online conversations with someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.
Dr Cas Shotter Weetman, an NHS cardiology practitioner and mother of Shotter told BBC: “The day I found out about Nat, I felt absolutely sick and I felt a terrible feeling of doom. I was in absolute shock. I then had to learn later from the police that my daughter had died in these horrific circumstances. She told Iidow he had “destroyed” her family.
“No woman should have to fear going to a park and sitting on a bench. It’s disgusting,” she added.
Evidence presented at trial showed Shotter dancing cheerfully in the street before entering the park after her night out. The jury viewed footage of Iidow passing the victim three times in a “predatory” manner as she sat on the bench.
Half an hour later, she was lying down, showing “no clear movement,” when the defendant approached her “nonchalantly,” prosecutor Alison Morgan KC explained.
The victim was “deeply unconscious” when Iidow repeatedly raped her, even repositioning her body during the assault, the court was told. Afterwards, the defendant drove back to his home in Hounslow, west London, stopping at a Shell garage to buy cat food and mouthwash.
Shotter, a mother of three children aged between five and 19, was found dead by a passer-by in the park in the early hours of 17 July 2021.
