New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday asked the central government ministers in the House to give up the habit of replying to the words of those members who have not received permission to speak from the floor. He made this comment when supplementary questions related to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy were being asked during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha.
When department minister Prahlad Joshi was answering a supplementary question, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav made some remarks, in response to which Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal was heard saying something. On this, Birla said, “Ministers are requested to give up the habit of giving answers to those (members) who did not give permission.”
What made Om Birla angry with the ministers?
Earlier, expressing his displeasure over Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal presenting documents with names of various ministers in the agenda before zero hour began in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Speaker Om Birla had said that the concerned ministers should be present in the House. When the ministers are not present in the House, generally the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs presents them on their behalf. While presenting the necessary forms in the House, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Meghwal placed a document inscribed in the name of Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasad. During this, Birla said that Industry Minister Piyush Goyal was sitting in the House and he should have been asked to present the documents. After this, Minister of State for Home Bundi Sanjay Kumar had to present the documents marked in his name on the table of the House and if he faced any difficulty, other ministers were informing him. On this, Birla told the ministers, “Don’t explain to each other.”

The speaker asked Meghwal to submit the relevant documents. After this, when Meghwal also presented a document inscribed in the name of Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan, Speaker Birla expressed his unhappiness and said, “Parliamentary Affairs Minister, make an effort that the ministers whose names are in the agenda are present in the House.” Be present in.
