The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned businessman Raj Kundra for questioning on December 4 in a money laundering case related to the alleged illegal distribution of pornographic films. According to official sources, earlier Kundra was asked to appear on Monday, but he asked for a new date, after which he has now been asked to appear on December 4.

In the ED investigation, this case is going on against Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra and his associates. The investigation pertains to a money laundering case registered in May 2022, in which action is being taken against Kundra and others based on two Mumbai Police FIRs and chargesheet. The ED had raided the premises of Kundra and his associates in various cities including Mumbai and Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh on December 29.

Another businessman also summoned

Also, according to sources, apart from Kundra, another businessman from Uttar Pradesh has also been summoned on December 4, while actress Gehana Vashishtha has been asked to testify on December 9. Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty have previously been accused of illegally producing and distributing pornography. However, Kundra had claimed last week that he is fully cooperating in the investigation and there is no concrete evidence against him. Kundra also said that he has been falsely implicated and he is becoming a scapegoat in this case.

ED had seized property worth Rs 98 crore

The case is already going on against some persons released on bail, some of whom were arrested earlier. Apart from this, earlier this year, ED had also seized assets worth Rs 98 crore of Kundra and Shetty, but the Bombay High Court had given relief against this order. The investigation by ED and Mumbai Police is now trying to clarify what illegal activities were carried out by Kundra and his associates for manufacturing and distributing pornography material and whether money laundering aspects related to these can be uncovered.
