Farmers protest again in Delhi

Farmers will once again march to Delhi today under the banner of Bharatiya Kisan Parishad, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and many other organizations including United Kisan Morcha. Farmers will march towards the Parliament complex on Monday with their five major demands, due to which security has been increased in Delhi-NCR areas and many routes have been changed. The farmers’ march will start from near Mahamaya flyover at 12 noon today and a huge group of farmers will move towards Delhi today on foot and on tractors.

Farmers completely closed Noida Greater Noida Expressway. The entire expressway below Mahamaya flyover was closed.

Farmers reached Mahamaya flyover, now marching towards Delhi.

ACP Arvind Kumar said, the police is trying to stop the tractor at the gate of Yamuna Authority. Farmers want to go with tractors.

Farmers came out from Greater Noida Yamuna Authority with tractor trolley, police tried to stop them, but did not stop. Farmers left for Noida Mahamaya flyover making noise.

Farmers will unite under the Mahamaya flyover, surveillance is being maintained everywhere, commandos have also been deployed along with paramilitary forces and police forces.

Farmers have lined up tractors at the gate of Yamuna Authority, a large number of police are present at the gate. Farmers say they will go to Delhi, police is explaining to the farmers.

On the farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ march, Union Minister Chirag Paswan said, “The government is ready to listen to the farmers and talk to them. Last time too, the government had without any conditions withdrawn those laws on which they had objection.” This shows the intention of the government that our NDA is completely trying to work with the sentiments of the farmers. I feel that talks should happen first.”

There are 10-15 farmers and about 10 tractors on Yamuna Authority. It was time to leave for Delhi at 11 o’clock but there were less people.

Noida’s Additional CP (Law and Order) Shivhari Meena says that more than 4,000 police personnel have been deployed, there is three-tier security.

Some farmer leaders have been detained, Meena said that we will not let the farmers go to Delhi at any cost.

Meena said that about 5 thousand employees are checking on various routes. Traffic management is also being done. Around 1000 PAC personnel are deployed. Apart from this, water cannon, tear gas squad and other disciplinary branches are deployed for security arrangements.

There is heavy traffic jam on the roads leading to Delhi, farmers are adamant on marching to Delhi.

Police have been put on standby to stop farmers at Delhi-Noida and Chilla borders.

What are their demands, why are they protesting, know in 10 points

  1. A day before, a high level meeting was held between the farmers and the administration. Farmers say that the officials have not given any concrete assurance.
  2. Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) leader Sukhbir Khalifa had announced on Sunday that they will march to the Parliament complex to protest from 12 noon on Monday, December 2, demanding compensation and benefits under the new agricultural laws.
  3. The agitating farmer organizations are demanding 10 percent developed plots and benefits of the new land acquisition law to the farmers affected by land acquisition.
  4. Farmers have five demands, including allotment of 10 percent of the plots under the old acquisition law and 64.7 percent increased compensation.
  5. Children of landed and landless farmers should be given the benefits of employment and redevelopment.
  6. The recommendations of the High Power Committee should be implemented.
  7. The populated area should be properly disposed of. All these decisions have to be taken at the government level.
  8. Farmers should be given the benefit of employment and rehabilitation.
  9. Government orders should be issued on the issues passed by the High Power Committee and proper arrangements should be made in the populated areas.
  10. On 27 November, farmers were protesting at the Greater Noida Authority, while from 28 November to 1 December, they were protesting at the Yamuna Authority. Other farmer groups like Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and Sanyukta Kisan Morcha are also organizing marches from December 6, pressing for demands like guarantee of minimum support price (MSP).
