Sarfaraz Khan walks off after painful elbow hit during training session in Perth

NEW DELHI: Young Indian batsman Sarfaraz Khan on Thursday faced an injury scare during Team India’s training session in Perth, walking off the field after a painful blow to his right elbow.
Preparing for the upcoming first Test against Australia, starting on November 22 in Perth, Sarfaraz was hit while batting in the nets.

Although the extent of the injury is still uncertain, Sarfaraz’s abrupt departure raised little concerns since he has been in excellent form in the recent past.
In a clip shared by Fox Cricket on social media platform X, Sarfaraz was seen walking off the field in visible pain, clutching his elbow with his left hand.

The 27-year-old is in contention to play in the Perth Test at Optus Stadium, with captain Rohit Sharma likely to be absent due to personal reasons.
Competing for the middle-order spot are experienced batsman KL Rahul and promising wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, who impressed with gritty knocks of 80 and 68 in the recent Australia A-India A series.
Sarfaraz has so far scored 371 runs in six Tests at an average of 37.10, with a century, three fifties, and a top score of 150. Having yet to play a Test outside India, Sarfaraz faces the challenge of proving himself on Australia’s fast and bouncy pitches.
