After the Indian hockey team’s excellent performance in the Paris Olympics and making it to the semi-finals, there is a festive atmosphere at hockey player Gurjant Singh’s house. There will be a wedding-like atmosphere at home until the finals are over and there will be a stream of people congratulating Gurjant Singh’s father.

Gurjant’s father Baldev Singh said, “The Indian hockey team qualified for the semi-finals by defeating Great Britain in the Paris Olympics. They are very happy with this. Last time the team got the bronze medal and I pray to God that this time its colour changes and the team comes back with gold.

Gurjant’s mother Sukhjinder Kaur said, “The players are working hard and this time they should bring the gold medal. The whole family is happy with them reaching the semi-finals. They are very happy that their son is playing in the Olympics.”
Gurjant’s uncle said, “I am very happy with this victory. My nephew has brought glory to this house and region. Before going to the Olympics, Gurjant had promised that this time the colour of the medal will change and he will win the gold medal. The match was very difficult, but in the end he won.”

Gurjant was part of the team that won bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics
Gurjant started playing as a professional player in the year 2016, when he participated in the FIH Junior Hockey Cup competition. During this time, his game came to the notice of many sports experts and he started getting encouraged by different experts. During the year 2017, he participated in major tournaments.
When he was selected for the Olympics, he won a bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020. Everyone liked his performance in the Commonwealth Games. He was also a part of the team that won the silver medal in Commonwealth Games-2014 (Glasgow, Scotland). The team won the gold medal in the 19th Asian Games 2022 Hangzhou (China).
Arjun Award was received in 2021
The team also won gold medals in Junior World Cup-2016, Junior Asia Cup-2015 and Hero Asia Cup-2017. He was awarded the Arjuna Award in the year 2021 by the Sports Ministry of the Government of India. He also performed well in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in the year 2019. He has played about 50 matches. In these, he has scored more than 32 goals.
