Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker will be India’s flag bearer at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics. An official of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) told PTI, “Yes, Manu has been chosen as the flag bearer. She has performed brilliantly and she deserves this honour.”
Manu Bhaker, a resident of Jhajjar in Haryana, has created history in the Paris Olympics. Manu won bronze in the women’s individual 10 meter air pistol and in the mixed event along with Sarabjot Singh. She is the first Indian to win two medals in the same Olympics.
Manu had won bronze in the women’s individual 10m air pistol and in the mixed event along with Sarabjot Singh.

She finished fourth in the 25m pistol event
Manu missed a medal in the 25m pistol event at the Paris Olympics. She finished fourth in the women’s 25m pistol event. She was eliminated after losing the shoot-off for the third position to Hungary’s Veronica. Manu managed to hit 5 out of 5 shots only once in 8 series. She hit 28 out of 40 shots in total. With this, her dream of hitting a hat-trick of medals at the Paris Olympics remained unfulfilled.
Why did Manu want to quit shooting after the Olympics?
There was a time when Manu Bhaker wanted to quit shooting. Manu was in the qualifying round of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Then her pistol malfunctioned. Due to which she was out of the final race. After this, Manu decided to quit shooting. Then her father Ramkishan Bhaker and mother Sumedha Bhaker motivated her.
India ranked 57th in the medal tally with 3 bronze
India is ranked 57th with 3 medals. Manu Bhaker won bronze medals for India in the women’s individual 10 meter air pistol event, the pair of Manu and Sarabjot Singh won bronze medals in the 10 meter air pistol mixed team event. Swapnil Kusale also won bronze in the 50 meter rifle three position.
