Know who is Maanvi Rai
Manvi, who got involved in social work during the lockdown, grew up in Delhi. After completing her schooling, Manvi graduated in Sociology from Venkateshwar College, Delhi. She was initially inclined towards fashion. For which she did a fashion designing course from the National Institute of Fashion Technology. In this field, she worked with renowned designers and gained a lot of fame. Manvi says that she also taught image consulting classes to students at NIFT for two years. Being a Canadian citizenship, Manvi often goes to Canada for work.
The animal loving journey of an image consultant
Manvi, who understands the problems and needs of animals, says that during the first lockdown, she started feeding dogs. During that time, along with feeding them, she also started taking care of some blind, injured and some elderly dogs. Manvi says that she started an NGO in Bhati village in Chhatarpur area of Delhi. That NGO was named Udgam Charitable Trust and Langar. The aim of this organization is to provide food to animals as well as treat injured and sick animals.
How to face every difficulty boldly
Manvi says, “Initially we had to face many difficulties in this work. At that time there was no medical help available here. Apart from 70 dogs, feeding the dogs of the entire village was a complicated task. Apart from the dogs, injured peacocks, monkeys, Nilgai and hyenas were also treated here. We took the initiative to send the cured animals for adoption in Canada.”
There is also an effort to empower women
The NGO feeds 150 dogs every day. Apart from this, they are also given rabies vaccination. Eight people have been employed by the organization to take care of the animals.

Reached the court to protect animals
We have also approached the court on issues related to wildlife hunting. Be it the case of a paralyzed dog or a rape case victim. Apart from taking care of the dogs, Manvi also remains in contact with the Forest Department and the Wildlife Department. In fact, animals are also provided with food and first aid facilities here.
Once they recover, the animals are returned to the Forest Department and Wildlife Department. Manvi says that dogs who are blind and handicapped are also sent outside India for care.
