After Nishant Dev’s defeat, international boxer Vijender Singh has written a post on social media and questioned the decision of the judges. His father Pawan said that just like there is betting on cricket in India, there is a huge market for boxing in Mexico. It is possible that Nishant was defeated for this reason.

The quarterfinal match was against Marco of Mexico

Nishant Dev’s father Pawan Dev told that his son had a match against Mexico’s Marco Verde in the 71 kg weight category of men’s boxing at 12:30 tonight. Where he had to face defeat by 1-4. If Nishant had won this quarter-final match, then winning bronze medal for the country was certain.

Lead in the first two rounds

Pawan told that Nishant Dev won the first two rounds. Nishant was confident of winning the third round as well. Not just him, we were also confident that we had won the match. But the decision given by the judges after that was quite shocking. In which Nishant had to face defeat by 1-4.

The third round was a close one

Pawan said that overall the third round was a close one and the scoring proved that not a single judge gave all three rounds to any boxer. The German judge who gave the first round to Verde had given the decision in India’s favour in the second round.

Pawan said that in amateur boxing, most of the scoring punches are done from close range and on the body, during this some of Nishant’s hooks or crosses hit Mexico’s Marco Verde’s face. Some hit the gloves, but those scoring punches were not given by the judges. Nishant Dev’s father said that the time to object to the match is 30 minutes. But now the time is over. Now we cannot even make any appeal. Now Nishant will work hard again and bring more medals for the country.

International boxer tweeted this

After the defeat of Nishant Dev, the country’s international boxer Vijender Singh posted on his social media account that I am surprised by the scoring system in this match. I don’t know what the scoring system is, but I think it was a very close match. Nishant played very well, no one brother.

Film actor Randeep Hooda also did it Tweet

After Nishant’s defeat, film actor Randeep Hooda wrote on his social media that Nishant had won this match. He had defeated the Mexicans. What is this scoring? Nishant bhai looted the medal but won our hearts. Further encouraging Nishant, he wrote that he still has to go a long way.
