Sarita Nirjhara, a resident of Lucknow, believes that until we tell our sons that a mother cannot be a super mom, we will not be able to make the lives of our daughters easier.

Women have started working and earning money outside the home, but men still hesitate to step into the kitchen. Recently, the Kerala Board has changed the pictures in its textbooks. Where men are also helping women in household chores. This will surely have a huge impact, because any change starts from the family itself. For this, we will have to prepare not only our daughters but also our sons. Sarit Nirjhara, a resident of Lucknow, thought about this many years ago and explained to both her sons and family that she is not a supermom. As a result of this, today she is able to go out and do everything that she wants to do. Whether it is starting a project to inculcate moral values in small children or making women who have suffered from acid attacks self-reliant and self-confident again.

Usually, women get confined to a limited sphere after starting their family. So many responsibilities are put on them that they do not even remember their likes and dislikes. Sarita Nirjhara, a resident of Lucknow, broke this stereotype and did every work that gave her spiritual satisfaction. Be it helping small children to speak and write or restoring the confidence of women suffering from acid attack. 46-year-old Sarita Nirjhara, a mother of two sons, is simultaneously fulfilling many responsibilities including writing and social work. In an exclusive interview with Health Shots, she shared her life experiences and journey so far (Sarita Nirjhara inspirational story).

Know who is Sarita Nirjhara

Sarita Nirjhara, a resident of Lucknow, seems like an ordinary woman. But her dreams and efforts to fulfill them make her different from others. Nirjhara broke this stereotype and did everything that gave her spiritual satisfaction.

Sarita Nirjhara did not get the happiness from her daily job and earning, which she gets by working for the betterment of the society. Nirjhara said that helping others, understanding people, listening to them and being able to do something for them helps her to be happy from within. Everyone earns and eats to maintain their lifestyle, but there are very few people who come forward to help others and for the betterment of the society. Sarita is one of them, who wants to move forward for the betterment of others more than her own comfort.

a dream a new project

The Kala Manthan project, dedicated to Hindi literature and Indian languages, is working to enhance the writing skills of many women and give them a new identity. While under this banner, they started a project for children. In which the focus is on children’s expression and emotional wellness. Its name is Aao Kahani Baatein.

This project of Manthan Foundation revolves around emotional wellness and life skill development in children. This unique project works on emotional intelligence in children through stories. The sessions on life skills like anger management, empathy, goal setting and communication were highly appreciated in many schools.

The third project of Manthan Foundation, Project Saath, was created with the aim of women empowerment. In India, even educated women and girls lack soft skills, communication skills and confidence. Project Saath works with this aim to develop soft skills in women. Under this, they are also working with acid attack survivors. Where they are taught small skills and helped to regain their confidence.

Stories help develop children’s morals

Sarita says, “Many children often hesitate to express their views in school, to go on stage, to talk to people. At the same time, schools already have the pressure of finishing thick books and they are unable to pay attention to the development of each child. Children learn academics, but they miss out on moving forward in life, talking to people, putting their views in front of people and the small morals of life.”

Nirjhara used stories as her base to reduce the hesitation of these children and to give information related to the morals and values of life to all the children. She explained different aspects of life through short stories to convey all the important things to the children.

Nirjhara established some forums like Kalamanch, where women and everyone express their thoughts through writing. Often women do not have the freedom to speak in their own homes, or most women keep their thoughts and ideas suppressed in their minds. Through the forum, such women are able to express their thoughts and feelings openly.

Taught her sons household chores

Sarita Nirjhara is a mother of two sons. Before urging society to bring about a change, she started with her children. Nirjhara has explained the work and responsibilities of a working woman to her children since childhood. She has always told them that their mother is a working woman, how much responsibility she can take and how much she cannot. So, when tomorrow a working girl comes into their life, they will realize how much responsibility they have to give her.

Nirjhara has taught her children since childhood to fulfill the routine needs of the lifestyle like cooking, washing clothes, cleaning the house etc. Today her children know how to cook food and do the routine household chores even though they are at a very good position.

This may seem like a small thing, but even today most women in the society are following the same old tradition in their homes. Women spend their whole life taking care of their children, and then when someone comes to their house as a daughter-in-law, the same is expected from them. Above all, Nirjhara has set a big example in the society with her thinking.

People’s smile is motivation

When Nirjhara was asked the secret of her motivation, she gave a very simple answer. She said, “When people come to me and tell me their problems and when they are solved, they say thank you with a smile, then I feel that there are many more people on whose faces I still want to see such a smile. When women come on stage and put forward their issues and feel light, or when children move forward leaving their fears behind, then seeing them motivates me to do even better.

Family and work life balance is most important

Along with family and profession, Nirjhara also participated in social work and did all of them very well. However, everyone faces difficulties in the beginning, and it is very difficult to handle everything at once, but where there is a will, there is a way. Nirjhara used to take classes in school, apart from this she started with small projects. Gradually, when the children grew up, they set up their own projects and started working on them. However, during this time Nirjhara’s family also supported her.
