Shimla: Sudden flood in Mayad Valley of Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh has affected normal life. According to information, the road from Changut to Tingret has been closed due to sudden flood in Changut Nala of Mayad Valley at around 8.30 pm on Saturday night. There is no news of loss of life or property. Local residents have been advised to stay in safe places.
Cloud burst in Shimla, Kullu and Mandi
At the same time, on Saturday, the rescue team found a person trapped under a rock in Rajban village of Mandi district, after which they are trying to break it by blasting and take the victim out from there. Five people are still missing in this case. The rescue operation to locate about 45 people missing after the cloudburst in three districts of Himachal Pradesh (Shimla, Kullu and Mandi) resumed on Saturday but no success has been achieved so far.
So far 8 people have been reported dead
Officials said on Saturday that a total of 410 rescue workers from the Army, NDRF, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), SDRF, CISF, police and home guard teams are involved in the search operation with the help of drones. So far eight people have died in the floods caused by cloudburst in Nirmand, Sainj and Malana of Kullu, Padhar of Mandi and Rampur subdivision of Shimla on Wednesday night.
NDRF commanding officer Karam Singh said, “Joint rescue operations are underway and efforts are on to find the missing people. We are using various equipment and sensors to locate people trapped or buried under the debris.” Karam’s team along with others is searching for the missing people in Samej village on the border of Shimla and Kullu districts. Sarpara village head Mohan Lal Kapatiya said, “With each passing hour, the chances of finding people alive are diminishing but we just hope that the bodies are recovered soon as there is a delay and the bodies will rot, making it difficult to identify them.
